Why I Support My Liver Every Day (and Why You Should Too)

Most people only think about their liver when something goes wrong.
But the truth is—your liver is the CEO of your internal operations. It’s responsible for over 500 vital functions, from filtering out toxins to metabolizing hormones, supporting digestion, regulating blood sugar, and even influencing your energy, mood, and immunity.
If you're navigating symptoms like:
Low energy
Brain fog
Weight gain
Hormonal imbalance
Autoimmune flare-ups
…it may not be “just age” or “stress.” Your liver might be overburdened.
As a functional health practitioner specializing in metabolic and immune health, especially for women in perimenopause, I make it a priority to support my liver every single day—because when your liver is sluggish, everything else slows down, too.
🧡 What I Do to Support My Liver Daily
1. Dandelion Root Tea
This gentle, bitter herb helps stimulate bile flow and digestion. It’s my go-to morning ritual to support liver detox and reduce bloating. You may not want to drink this if you have hay fever allergies.
2. Castor Oil Packs
Applied over the liver area, castor oil packs promote lymphatic drainage, reduce inflammation, and support gentle detoxification. I use them 3–4 times per week.
3. Epsom Salt Baths or Sauna Sessions
These are my favorite ways to encourage natural detox through sweating. The magnesium in Epsom salts also calms the nervous system—another key player in healing.
4. Red Light Therapy
Red and near-infrared light therapy can reduce oxidative stress, support mitochondrial health, and help your liver function more efficiently.
5. Consistent Sleep Routine
I go to bed and wake up around the same time every day—even on weekends. Our liver performs critical detox and repair work at night, especially between 1–3 AM (according to Traditional Chinese Medicine).
6. Balanced Blood Sugar
I focus on protein-rich meals, healthy fats, and fiber to avoid blood sugar spikes and crashes. This helps reduce the liver’s burden of processing excess glucose and insulin surges.
7. Minimizing Toxins
This includes avoiding BPA (common in plastics), glyphosate (in many non-organic foods), synthetic fragrances, and choosing cleaner personal care and home products. Your liver has to process every chemical you’re exposed to—so reducing the load helps it function better.
🙌 Why It’s Worth the Effort
Supporting your liver isn't about doing a "cleanse" once a year. It's about daily choices—with your food, your habits, and your environment.
When your liver is supported, your whole body feels the difference:
Clearer skin
Better digestion
More stable mood and energy
Smoother hormone transitions
Fewer autoimmune flares
It’s not always glamorous—but it is foundational. Especially for women in their 30s to 50s, as hormone shifts and environmental stressors start to stack up.
✨ Curious where to start?
I offer root-cause focused testing and personalized guidance through my 1:1 sessions and group programs. If you're feeling stuck, bloated, or inflamed—let's look under the hood and give your liver the support it’s been asking for.
to health & happiness,
